EL8020 80V 20A 300W Electronic Load
Important! This design is still under development and design is open to changes. Currently preRevA is the first version of this design.

General Info
EL8020 is a 400W programmable electronic load custom designed for OSIP to be in a 10HP eurorack enclosure size.
It is capable of handling 80V or 20A max inputs dissipating 400W with heatsink reaching 85°C at full fan speed
without any problems. It uses 4xIRFP250N mosfets as load to dissipate 100W per mosfet. Cooling is provided by
2xFFB0412UHN 23000RPM 26.5CFM fans from Delta Electronics and a LGA775 compatible 1U skived copper cooler
(can be seen in the photo of the internal assembly) with a custom 3D printed fan shroud.
EL8020 design uses:
-RP2040 MCU for general system control.
-24bit ADS1220 ADC for external/internal voltage sensing and current measurements.
-16bit DAC8565 DAC for setting HW OVP+OCP threshold and controlling set current of the load circuitry.
-EMC210x fan controller for controlling fan speeds and measuring intake, heatsink and exhaust air temps.
Current Info
Currently EL8020 is in preRevA and design will be published as a “untested revA design” when the problems in current
revision are found and resolved.
EL8020 as of right now can handle teorically 400W aka 80V@5A or 20V@20A but with my current setup I’m only able to source
48V and 17A max so further testing is to be done. Thermally it reaches a thermal equilibrium of 95°C at 400W with 100% fan speed(2x26.5CFM).
